Founding FDE
The role
You will be our first Founding FDE. Your job is to walk into a PE firm or top consultancy, understand how the partners actually do the work, and ship an Ember deployment that materially changes it. Half customer, a quarter code (Python, mostly), a quarter writing. The integration is two files; the work of figuring out which threads to expose, which corpora to index, and how to evaluate retrieval against the firm's real questions is the work, and it is yours.
You are
- Technical enough to ship. Python and SQL in production, comfortable in a retrieval pipeline. No CS degree required.
- Trusted in the room. An MD at a $40B fund tells you things they wouldn't tell most consultants — because of how you carry yourself, keep promises, and handle the moment when something has gone wrong.
- Comfortable with ambiguity. The seed-stage default state is "we have no idea what to do next, and we have a customer demo on Thursday."
Strong signals
- 2+ years forward-deployed at Palantir, Hebbia, Sierra, Harvey, Decagon, or similar.
- PE associate, MBB consultant, or banking analyst who learned to code well enough to ship in production.
- Built and shipped a non-trivial RAG or knowledge-management system end-to-end — and can name exactly what went wrong with it.
- Part-time path: currently inside a finance or consulting firm and want to be at the table while this category gets built.
How to apply
Send a one-page note to founders@allember.com with the subject "Founding FDE — [Full-time / Part-time]." Answer three questions:
- What is the most complicated deployment you have ever shipped, and what specifically went wrong?
- What is the first question you would ask an MD at a PE firm about their document corpus?
- Why Ember, and why now?
